Story of Fables of the Green Forest
Johnny ChuckThe series tells the adventures of animals living in a North American forest. The main character is Johnny, a woodchuck. One spring day, encouraged by Sister Breeze (the voice of the wind), he decides to leave his elderly nest to make a home for himself in the distant Green Forest. Soon he meets Polly, a girl woodchuck who becomes his mate. They make friends with other animals of the forest and the Green Meadows, amongst others: Peter Rabbit, who lives in the Briar Patch, Chatterer the Red Squirrel, Uncle Billy Possum and Jimmy Skunk. News travels fast on the wings (and voice!) of Sammy Blue Jay. As newcomers like Paddy Beaver and Old Man Coyote arrive in the Green Forest, the animals learn about the ways of their new neighbours and to live together. When advice is needed, they turn to wise old Grandfather Frog who has his home in the Smiling Pool. Danger is always near with predators like Reddy Fox, Weasel and man but in the end everything turns out right for Johnny and his friends.

  2. This is amazing. I’ve been searching the name of the fables for years as my sister and I used to watch The Fables Of The Green Forest. We used to watch them on Saturday morning cartoons and these were our favorite ones. I’ve been looking and found them on dvd but unfortunately they are in Japanese not dub to English or even Spanish. Thank you for adding the names of each character. I am very fond of all the characters and I had several favorite ones.

    • Hello Christian, sorry for the late response but this site has been dormant for some time, as I couldn’t find more information on the English dub. But it’s great to hear that you still fondly remember Fables of the Green forest, and that you like my site! I too had some favorite characters (and episodes, like the one in which Billy Possum plays dead, or Grandfather Frog ventures into the wide world, and the episode in which the Laughing Brook dries up). I believe there have been no recent dvd or BD releases outside Japan. The Japanese BD has been fansubbed recently, and is on Nyaa.si.
